Treatment Foster Care: Madison's Story
Madison is a budding violinist and a great fan of Yoyo Ma. She practices daily without reminders and is starting to develop some melodies of her own.
You’d never know that Madison was born to a woman who spent more time high with friends than nurturing her daughter. Or that Madison is hearing impaired from being shaken as a baby.
You’d never know because Family & Children’s Center intervened.
After an especially wild night, Madison’s mother was desperate for sleep. But her hungry baby wouldn’t stop crying. Frustrated, the mother shook Madison until her eyes rolled back and she went limp. An emergency room visit confirmed the abuse and neglect Madison suffered, and social workers ultimately placed her in the loving home of a Family & Children’s Center Treatment Foster Care family.
In her new home, Madison flourished. The cranky baby began smiling and giggling, and to this day she loves to be cuddled in her foster mom’s arms.
She was fitted with a hearing aid to restore the loss, and became enthralled with the sounds of her older foster sister’s cello.
Today, Madison is a healthy, smart and talented girl. She has since been adopted by her Treatment Foster Care parents and has every reason to believe she has a lifetime of better tomorrows ahead.
