VERNON COUNTY, Wis. — Family & Children’s Center’s Fifth Annual Spring Fling to raise money for Vernon County’s Domestic Abuse Project returns next month. This year’s event will be held Saturday, April 28, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Encore, 220 South Main Street, Viroqua, Wis.
Presented by the Partnership for Peaceful Homes, the event features a silent auction and hors d’oeuvres by Chef Monique Hooker.
The Spring Fling takes place each year in April, Child Abuse Prevention Month, because studies have shown that children are more likely to be abused in homes where domestic abuse occurs in any form. The Domestic Abuse Project (DAP) seeks to end abuse by providing victims — including children and adults — support, a safe place to discuss their situation, tools to achieve a less violent environment and community education and awareness. The project last year served 116 people.
The Partnership for Peaceful Homes is an alliance between Family & Children’s Center, the DAP and the Vernon County Domestic Abuse Project task force. The DAP is funded by a grant through the state and administered by Family & Children’s Center.
Tickets for this year’s event are $25 and are available in advance or at the door. For more information or to register, call Family & Children’s Center at 608-637-7052.
