Previous parenting or foster care experience, or special skills in working with children

One parent must be home full-time, year round
Be competent adults with a demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment decision-making
Ability to work and communicate openly and effectively as a team member
Utilize community support systems to assist in the care of the child and maintain good community relationships
Willingness to work alongside foster child’s birth or adoptive parents
Experience in dealing effectively with crisis
Participate in the selection of children for placement in the foster home, development of the child’s treatment plan, and assessment of the child’s progress
Attend training and support group meetings, seeking to update and improve personal treatment skills
- Behavior Modification (annually)
- Crisis Prevention/Intervention Training (annually)
- Privacy and Confidentiality (annually)
- Blood borne Pathogens (annually)
- CPR/First Aid (annually)
- Diversity (annually)
- Support Meetings twice each month
- 24 hours of training each year
Successfully complete criminal background checks, driver’s license check, and reference checks
