DESCRIPTION:Join Family & Children’s Center for Signs and Symptoms of Child Abuse during a ‘Meet and Eat’ with FCC staff.\nThe pair of free events are open to the public and child care will be available. \nThe first session will take place at our La Crosse offices\, 1707 Main Street\, in the John Burgess Conference Room\, on April 19.\nThe second session will take place at our Winona offices\, 601 Franklin Street\, in the Slaggie Family Conference Room\, on April 25. \nAnyone seeking free child care during the event is asked to sign up five days ahead of the event\, depending on your desired session. The deadline for child care for the La Crosse session is April 13 and April 20 for the Winona session. \nFood will be available starting at 5 p.m. The presentation will run 5:30 p.m. to 6:20 p.m. \nSpace is limited\, but registration is required.

DESCRIPTION:Family 2.0 Evolving with the Family (formerly known as Sandcastles) is a peer support group led by two trained facilitators. The program seeks to help children identify feelings related to divorce. Coping skills are introduced as ways to work through those feelings. Family 2.0 builds on resilience and problem solving skills. \nChildren participate in small\, interactive groups with peers their own age. To make the Family 2.0 experience comfortable and enriching\, trained facilitators lead mindfulness exercises\, yoga movements\, group discussions\, and workbook activities. In addition\, some groups create a poster featuring their original artwork\, including expressing emotions\, family changes\, and ideas of ways to reduce frustration and stress. All materials created by youth are confidential and cannot be used in the divorce process. Parents are not permitted to take pictures of any material the children make.

DESCRIPTION:Adolescents with anxiety are invited to take part in weekly sessions hosted by Family & Children’s Center\, teaching cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT)\, mindfulness\, and social connectedness. \nThe group is designed for adolescents in sixth through eighth grades who are experiencing anxiety. To participate\, adolescents can be diagnosed with anxiety or may be experiencing anxiety without obtaining or fitting an anxiety diagnosis. DESCRIPTION:You can prevent suicide in your community! Just as people are trained in CPR and the Heimlich maneuver to help save thousands of lives each year. People trained in Question\, Persuade\, and Refer (QPR) learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to help someone who is at risk.
