More on the Darkness to Light’s Stewards of Children Training:
Family & Children’s Center, with the help of Winona County Primary Prevention Project, is providing free trainings throughout 2016 to help keep kids safe from child sexual abuse. According to Darkness to Light, one in ten children are sexually abused before the age of 18 and only 38 percent of victims disclose they have been abused. Darkness to Light’s Stewards of Children Training offers adult participants the chance to learn how to prevent child sexual abuse by increasing awareness, improving attitudes and raising protective factors in the community.
During Stewards of Children Training you will learn from experts, hear survivors’ stories and gain practical skills on how you can prevent child sexual abuse. Family & Children’s Center in coordination with the Winona County Primary Prevention Project offered this training in February at max capacity. Participants from a wide variety of disciplines and other communities attended including teachers, principals, law enforcement, parent educators, community education workers, youth service organizations, coaches and county attorney’s office staff among others.
