Family & Children’s Center receives donation of handmade toys
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) – In the spirit of giving, UW-La Crosse professor Scott Cooper, along with a team of dedicated woodworking helpers, is spreading holiday cheer by donating a collection of handcrafted wooden toys to support Family & Children’s Center (FCC).
Scott Cooper has been making and donating hand-crafted wooden toys for more that two decades, and each year he makes something new. This year he donated wooden dinosaurs on wheels.
Cooper and his team of volunteers had spent countless hours using their skills throughout the year hand-crafting these unique wooden toys.
The donation aligns with the efforts of Family & Children’s Center to provide support and joy to those in need during the holiday season.
“We really appreciate the support that we receive from Scott Cooper and his help that are from creating these toys to give to children”, says Andrea Pierson, program coordinator of healthy families at the FCC. “It’s been a rough year and families really appreciate the help they receive.”
Now that the toys have been dropped off at the FCC, they will soon be distributed throughout La Crosse, Vernon, and Winona counties to families in need this holiday season.
LA CROSSE (WKBT) — Two of Santa’s elves are making an early Christmas delivery.
Scott Cooper and Kurt Grunwald are well known at the Family and Children’s Center in La Crosse for their handmade, wooden toys.
This year, they made dinosaurs on wheels for kids that may not otherwise get presents for Christmas.
The pair dropped off their bag of gifts Friday morning.
The duo has been making these toys for 23 years and say they don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.
“We started out to make toys for children who didn’t have much for Christmas, and that has not changed. And we still enjoy woodworking, so that hasn’t changed. So, we’ll just keep goin’,” said Grunwald.
