Slaggie Family Contributes to Sustainability of FCC with $150,000.00 Investment
Family & Children’s Center (FCC) extends heartfelt gratitude to the Amanda and Mike Slaggie Family for their most recent contribution of $150,000.00. This funding will go towards programs and projects that promote the overall sustainability of the organization.
“FCC has continued to inspire us with the strong impact that they have on those they serve,” said Amanda Slaggie, “The strong, dedicated leadership combined with their ability to meaningfully help those in the community makes supporting this organization something we are grateful to be able to do.”
The majority of the funding will be applied towards the installation of a solar panel system on the roof of FCC’s Winona office on Franklin Street. FCC projected that the office would spend nearly $600,000.00 on electricity alone over the next 30 years. By installing solar panels, the agency can save nearly $450,000.00.
“We are so grateful for this incredibly generous gift to install solar panels on our building,” said President and CEO of FCC, Tita Yutuc. “By reducing the costs to our overhead expenses, we can apply more resources to programs that prevent abuse, strengthen families, and treat mental illness.”
One of FCC’s Winona programs will benefit directly from a portion of this recent gift. Hiawatha Hall has been helping adults with mental illness prepare for independent living for over 40 years. As an intensive residential treatment service, Hiawatha Hall can house up to 9 adults at a time while they receive individualized care and learn the life skills needed to become self-sufficient and healthy. Funds from the gift will support FCC’s upcoming efforts to purchase a larger home, so more community members in need can enjoy a comfortable space to heal.
The remaining funds will go towards FCC’s outreach efforts to increase awareness of the vital programs provided in Winona, as well as throughout southeastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin. For more information on FCC programs, visit fcconline.org.
