Family & Children’s Center hosts art contest celebrating safe families (WKBT)

WINONA, Minn. (WKBT) — The Family and Children’s Center invited the community to participate in an art contest celebrating safe and healthy families at its Franklin Street office in Winona.

The contest featured artwork created by local students that highlights themes of family safety and wellness. Community members had the opportunity to view the submissions and vote for their favorites until 3:30 p.m. today.

“Many of the submissions are through the local schools, whether through their homeroom class or art class they’re learning about the contest, and getting an opportunity to submit their art,” said coordinator Danielle Swedbur.

The art contest serves as part of the organization’s recognition of National Child Abuse Prevention Month, which takes place each April. The event aims to raise awareness about child protection while showcasing the creative talents of area students.

Story originally aired on WKBT on April 9, 2026.
