Al’s Musky Challenge sees a record year (WXOW)

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) – The results for the 6th annual Al’s Musky Challenge are in and it’s blowing every other year out of the water.

From June 6th of this year to October 6th La Crosse Rotary Club member Al Louis fished Lake Vermillion in northern Minnesota.

Other Rotarians and community members donated to this year’s cause with either a flat dollar pledge or a pledge per fish caught.

The funds from this year’s musky challenge will benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Greater La Crosse and the Family and Children’s Center.

“With the money raised in pledges and donations it put us at about $135,000 and then Family and Children’s Center and Boys and Girls Club had matches to the money we raised. All said and done $201,000”, says Al Louis.

$201,000 crushes the previous record of just over $120,000.

All together Al caught 103 fish.
