Family & Children’s Center holds event in La Crosse – WKBT News 8 Now
LA CROSSE (WKBT) — An area nonprofit wants to help the community address mental health now to provide a better tomorrow.
The Family and Children’s Center held a fundraiser at La Crosse’s Weber Center for Performing Arts on Thursday night.
FCC representatives talked about the different programs available to help kids overcome abuse and create a more stable home life.
14 area businesses already gave the Center a total of $350,000 to continue those programs, and the event tonight is trying to match that amount.
One former board member hopes what people heard Thursday may have inspired them.
“Hopefully they’ll see the amount of people we help, and they’ll see the different programs,” said Laura Eddy, former FCC board member. “And it could be they see it and they need help themselves. It might not be that they just think this is something I should give to.”
Family and Children’s Center also streamed the event for those who couldn’t attend.
The organization currently runs 25 programs in La Crosse, Sparta, Viroqua, Black River Falls, and Winona.
