Family & Children’s Center hosts safe family art contest for Child Abuse Awareness Month (WKBT)
WINONA, Minn — Family & Children’s Center hosted its Safe Family Art Contest, bringing together children and families to express through art what family safety means to them.
The event served as a creative highlight in a series of activities planned for Child Abuse Awareness Month.
“Not only does it give them the opportunity to showcase their art skills but also to think about what are safe families and what does that mean to them,” said Danielle Swedberg, coordinator at the Family & Children’s Center. “And maybe be looking at what their friends or the kids at the next desk is thinking of a safe family and to try and expand on that for all kids.”
Visitors to the event had the opportunity to view all the submissions and cast votes for their favorite pieces.
Each piece of art served as a powerful reminder of the importance of nurturing safe family environments.
Child Abuse Awareness Month, observed annually in April, aims to recognize the importance of families and communities working together to prevent child abuse and neglect.
