FCC to host events throughout April during Child Abuse Awareness Month
During Child Abuse Awareness Month in April, Family & Children’s Center (FCC) will be providing free awareness events at locations in La Crosse, Onalaska and Winona.
March 31, 9 a.m., 10 a.m., & 11 a.m.
To prepare for Child Abuse Prevention Month, Family & Children’s Center (FCC) welcomes community members of all ages to raise awareness by helping FCC staff plant blue kids in front of FCC’s La Crosse Headquarters at 811 Monitor Street at 9 a.m. The blue kids serve as a visual reminder of the prevalence of child abuse across the nation and of FCC’s continued efforts in abuse prevention and child advocacy. Tita Yutuc, President/CEO of FCC, will be available for interviews.
New this year, two of FCC’s valued community partners will also plant blue kids at their locations to show their support of abuse prevention and intervention.
The community is welcome to join FCC and Merchants Bank staff at 10 a.m. to plant blue kids at Merchants Bank’s Onalaska offices at 3140 Market Place.
At 11 a.m., FCC staff will join with staff from Dahl Automotive to plant blue kids at the corner of 3rd and Division Streets in La Crosse.
Local media are invited to join FCC at all three sites to learn how FCC is rising to meet the needs of abuse victims and what drives our partners at Dahl Automotive and Merchants Bank to support our mission.
FCC staff will continue to plant blue kids throughout the day on March 31 and April 1 at Merchants Bank locations in La Crescent, Caledonia, Winona, and St Charles, MN; as well as at Dahl Automotive locations in La Crosse, Onalaska, and Winona. Blue kids will also be placed at FCC offices in La Crosse (2505 Weston Street), Winona (601 Franklin Street), and Viroqua (1321 North Main Street).
April 10, 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Community members are invited to Family & Children’s Center’s Winona offices, located at 601 Franklin Street, on April 10 for the ‘A Safe Family…’ art contest. Formally known as the ‘Hands are For’ art contest, the event features art pieces that show the safe ways families can come together. During the event, guests will vote to help us pick the winning selections.
On April 17, join us at WNB Financial, 204 Main Street, Winona for the announcement of the winner of the ‘A Safe Family…’ art contest. Enjoy refreshments while celebrating the winning pieces and all of the submitted artwork.
